Nathaniel Currier, publisher (American, 1813-1888) AMERICAN FOREST SCENE. Maple Sugaring. 1856, (Conningham, 157). Identified by inscriptions in the matrix. Lithograph with hand-coloring on paper, sheet size 23 5/8 x 31 5/8 in., matted in a molded bird's-eye maple frame. Condition: Margins of 2 3/8 in. or more, mat staining, toning, hinged to mat at the top, other staining prevalent to the verso, second portion of title obscured by mat. Note: This lithograph ranks no. 2 in the original "Best 50," and no. 6 in the "New Best 50" large folio.
