Paulus Roetter (German/American, 1806-1894) Expansive Landscape with Luminous Skies Signed "Paulus Roetter" l. c. Oil on canvas, 10 x 14 in. (25.3 x 35.5 cm), framed. Condition: Surface grime, craquelure. N.B. Born in Nuremberg, Roetter moved to Switzerland in 1825 to study. After twenty years in Switzerland, Roetter emigrated to the United States, eventually coming to Harvard, where he was an associate of Louis Agassiz.
