Towle Silversmiths Presentation Six Piece Sterling Tea and Coffee Service, Newburyport, c. 1919, comprising teapot, coffeepot, kettle on stand with burner, covered sugar, creamer, and tray, the pieces ovoid, with angular handles, domed lids with pinecone finials, on spreading ovoid feet, all engraved to one side with monogram and date 1919, topped by the Towle maker's mark, coffeepot ht. 10, the ovoid tray with cut out handles, engraved to center with matching device, the underside of tray with presentation inscription from "the stockholders of the Towle Mfg. Co." in appreciation of the recipient's "wise and devoted service in their interest," tray lg. 26 1/4 in., approx. 226 troy oz. total. Note: Sold to benefit the Acquisitions Fund of the Danforth Museum of Art, Framingham, Massachusetts.
