Pair of George II Silver Gilt Tea Caddies in Fitted Case, London, 1754, John Swift, maker, inverted pear shaped, chased and embossed with floral cartouches to each side, one enclosing crest of quartered shield with lion passant on red and ermine ground, on bend sinister with two Tudor roses on sable ground, with small device to dexter chief point, the other side with the smaller device only, domed lid with fruiting bud finial, applied with cast Renaissance Revival grotesque griffin handles, on small trumpet foot with floral rim, ht. 6 1/2, in velvet lined fitted calf case, 12 1/4 x 8 3/4 in., 19 troy oz.
