Shaker Oval Sewing Carrier, Sabbathday Lake, Maine, late 19th or early 20th century, ash swing handle on oval carrier, maple sides with four lapped fingers secured with copper tacks, pine base with round black Sabbath Day Lake stamp, lined with yellow satin with yellow satin ribbons attaching a heart-shaped pin cushion, an emery-filled strawberry, and two needle books with satin covers, one handpainted with a floral design, (Shakers replaced the yellow satin lining in the 20th century at Sabbath Day Lake, minor stains), ht. with handle upright, 8 3/8, dia. 11 in.
