Transfer Decorated Porcelain Jug, America, early 19th century, the pitcher with a wide, light blue band with black transfer decoration: under the spout is the Seal of the United States surrounded by the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FREE AND INDEPENDENT," one side with three figures in a landscape with a river and a crennelated building in the distance, the reverse depicting a country lane with a figure, a carriage, and horses before some houses, raised foliate motifs on spout and handle, gilt rim and highlights, (chip to side of spout rim, some gilt retouch), ht. 6 1/2 in.
