Cole, Wisconsin 37th Regiment, Company E, comprising correspondence and documents chronicling the mortal wounds Cole received at Petersburg, Virginia, his subsequent hospitalization at Armory Square Hospital, Washington, D.C. and the later petitions to the government upon his death. June 28th, "I am safe + sound after going through grape shot + canister + a terrific fire of sharp shooters-our first charge was through an open field" and continues the account of the battle, the later letters detail the horrors of the hospital and further troubles petitioning the government, approximately thirty pieces.
