Harding, Warren G. (1865-1923), Letter Signed, July 17th, 1918, three pages, as U.S. Senator from Ohio, Committee on Commerce, to Mr. James Woods, lengthy letter concerning the wartime effects on the cost of paper and it's effect on Harding's own newspaper, how to increase costs without losing subscribers and potentially cutting the comics section in favor of a raise for the employees, "I wish you would drop me a line and let me know what we are expending for comics...my judgement is growing stronger and stronger in favor of cutting out this expense and giving a portion of the money to the various employees of the paper. I grow more and more impressed with the impelling necessities of war time...," (very good).
