CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL GRANDE & PETITE SONNERIE CARRIAGE CLOCK French, No. 36-187. Made circa 1900. Fine, large, gilt brass and champlevé enamel, 8-day going, Grand and Petite Sonnerie striking carriage clock with repeat and alarm. Multi-piece, "anglaise riche", gilt-brass inlaid with predominently blue multicolored champlevé enamel, Corinthian columns, the sides and top glazed, hinged handle. Circular annular white enamel with bold radial Roman numerals, gilt decoration, outer gilt dot minute divisions, white enamel alarm setting dial with radial Arabic numerals, champleve enamel and gilt foliate engraved mask. Blued steel halberd hands. Rectangular brass plates, going barrels for the going and striking trains, barrel for the alarm train, lateral lever escapement on a large matte gilt platform, monometallic balance with temperature adjustment screws, flat balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating on two gongs with two hammers, strike selection lever in the base.
