Chinese, 19th century Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). A pair of hand painted porcelain ginger jars in the "Mandarin Palette", each comprising a jar of traditional form with opposing shaped figural cartouches bordered by connecting scrolls and containing courtly figural scenes set in landscapes, these cartouches reserved to a ground of vivid orange geometric patterning punctuated by round medallions bearing floral stems and also two larger shaped ruyi scroll and dragon bordered medallions containing flowering branches and birds, the jar foot and shoulder with bands of geometric patterning in red and gilt with various floral and bamboo medallions contained within, each with a domed round lid with further geometric patterning and figural cartouches. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 9", diameter 8". Provenance: From the Estate of Channing S. Jun, M.D., Eastman, Georgia.
