Chinese, late 19th/ early 20th century. A large Chinese Export porcelain jardiniere of cylindrical form with flat saucer rim and slightly everted foot, the whole with hand painted cobalt blue underglaze decoration depicting a dragon and a phoenix amid peony blossoms and vines over band of archaic animal head forms in grass, with a band of ruyi heads at top of planter and a band of stylized clouds to flat saucer rim. Remnant of red wax export seal to rim. Unmarked. Approximate height 17.75", diameter 20.5".
