French, first half 20th century. A Louis XV style duchesse brisée, or chaise lounge in two parts, in carved and white paint decorated wood, the chair of bergere form with padded and upholstered arched back and scrolling sides over short padded arms, with iron handles to either side for securing the reclining back in 5 positiions; the long footstool of rectangular form with arched end reclining via matching iron hardware into two positions; each section raised on French cabriole legs with shell carved knees, scroll toes, and scrolling shaped aprons. Chair overall height (fully erect) 43", width across arms 33.5 (including iron handle), depth 32", seat height 17". Overall length 61".
