T. Simpson & Son, Halifax (English 1798-1957), circa 1880. An Edwardian movement inlaid mahogany mirrored vanity or dressing table having a superstructure with swinging beveled looking glass between fluted uprights centered to each side by a locking concave glove box inlaid with draping stylized urn and scrolling foliage, the case with drop bow front center over conforming two short and two long drawers, flanked to each side by paneled doors with elaborate inlay following the designs of Thomas Sheraton, George Hepplewhite and Robert Adam depicting ribbon tied bellflowers, over an urn issuing festoons, chains and husks, flambeau torches and seated winged griffins, each concealing three wardrobe slides and raised on square tapered legs decorated with inlaid bellflowers united by a rectangular undershelf and terminating in spade feet on casters. Both doors mounted with plaques 'T. SIMPSON 7 SONS, CABINET MAKERS. HALIFAX.' Approximate height 69.37", width 55.25", depth 19.5".
