Baker Furniture Co. (American, founded 1903), for Marshall Fields & Co (American, 1881-2006), circa 20th century. A Georgian style mahogany with satinwood inlay cylindrical roll top desk having a central tambour door enclosing a tooled leather writing surface hinged and opening to a removable metal handled tray, the exterior with a hinged pull down door to each side revealing an interior fitted with envelope or letter slots and a key activated storage compartment that allows for the compartment to be pulled-out and accessible above a frieze with two drawers, both fitted with dividers and raised on square tapered legs. The whole decorated with satinwood stringing. Right drawer interior mounted with oval silver metal 'Baker Furniture' tag and a rectangular metal tag 'Marshall Fields & Company'. Approximate height 43.5", width 46.75", depth 20.75".
