English, early 20th century. A pair of exceptionally fine, carved gray stone Renaissance Revival pedestals (or columns, or shaped pilasters), each pedestal with separable capital, capital with rounded and stepped cornice, the cornice centered by face of putto, the putto flanked on either side by figural brackets of griffin form, one griffin with scrolled acanthus for legs, the brackets each with a single rosette, capital with a frieze relief of scrolled foliates and acanthus, the shaft with central vertical panel with stacked urns, with scrolling acanthus, with winding ivy, with various male masks, with two lizards, centered by face of putto with frog's legs, the central panel flanked to either side by mirrored panels of cascading fruit including pomegranates, each side panel with a figural medallion depicting the head in profile of classic male figures, the shaft base of one column with three winged griffin figures, each with the face of a lion, the shaft base of the other column with four winged griffins of the same form, each with shaped plinth base, apparently unmarked. Each overall approximately 48.25" x 19.75" x 16".
