Senufo people, African (Ivory Coast), 20th century. Pair of large hand carved tribal figural floor sculptures depicting a standing male and female ancestors, each with rounded, pierced and incised disc form headdress on top of head, linear scarification on faces, pointed chins, rounded ears, elongated noses and oval form mouths with exposed teeth, nude bodies with loincloth clothing, each holding basket in left hand, and tool in the other hand. Unmarked. Man approximate height 65.5". Woman approximate height 60".
