Ed Dwight (American (Colorado), b. 1933). "Birth of the Blues" - 1980, patinated bronze, artist's proof, signed, dated, and proofed to base at left, also with plaque stating sculpture name. Emotive figural sculpture depicting a group of four young African American men playing blues instruments, including banjo, trumpet, and harmonica, three men seated on large bundles as the other perches against one, the bronze to a shaped carved and stained wood plinth base. Approximate overall height 14", width 18", depth 14". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Dr. & Mrs. Calvin Wayne McLarin, Atlanta, Georgia.
