Karges Manufacturing Co (American, founded 1886), contemporary. A Louis XV style gilt bronze mounted and parcel gilt chinoiserie decorated bureau plat, the whole green painted with reverse serpentine shaped top inset with gilt tooled green leather writing surface over a conforming deep frieze fitted to one side with a center drawer flanked by two short drawers, each mounted with leafy handles, the other side with simulated drawers and matching decoration, raised on bronze mounted cabriole legs terminating in acanthus-cast sabots. Manufacturer tag for 'Karges' is mounted to interior of end drawer. Approximate height 29.87", width 59.75", depth 28".
