Meissen (German, founded 1710- ), early 20th century. A hand painted porcelain covered soup tureen with large underplate, the tureen of oblong from with gilt accented leaf form handles on both sides of body and swirled plume gilt accented finial on domed lid, exterior of top and bottom of tureen with hand painted exotic flowers and sprigs. The underplate in similar oval dished form having a scalloped gilt edge and decorated to the interior with scattered colorful flowers and sprigs. Each piece is marked with blue cross swords having slightly curved blades and colorless impressed mark. None of the pieces are marked as a factory manufacturer second. Approximate overall height of tureen on underplate 11.5". Approximate height of tureen 10.5", width 14.62", depth 8.87". Approximate height of underplate 2.12", width 16.37", depth 12".
