John Thomas Riddle Jr. (American (active Georgia), 1934-2002), "God's Plan"-1982, serigraph on paper hinged to foam board, edition noted, titled, dated and signed in lower left quadrant "P 20/20 God's Plan (c) 1982 John T Riddle Jr". Figural print depicting circle with stylized ambiguous animal heads that divide the circle into four equal parts, each part contains a combination of contemporary figural images and symbols that include dual interlocking figures, a skeletal depiction of a lizard, the Adinkra symbol for "Only God", and a tribal fertility doll (Ashanti), with script spanning the lower margin "GOD'S PLAN ONLY GOD Sheet No. S-4 of 5 Sheets". Framed approximately 40.5" x 31.75". Sheet size approximately 33.5" x 25.125".Provenance: From the Private Collection of Dr. & Mrs. Calvin Wayne McLarin, Atlanta, Georgia. Note: Riddle's work has been exhibited at the High Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, both in Atlanta, Georgia; the Tubman African American Museum in Macon, Georgia; the National Jazz Museum in New York City, New York; and the Musée de Montreux in Switzerland.
