Austrian, 19th century. A monumental terracotta planter having a circular mouth over a gadroon decorated neck, the body with continuous scene carved in high relief depicting the mythological subject of the Bacchanal, the putti and Bacchus in several various pursuits over a gadroon decorated, tapering base raised on a turned socle foot. Impressed mark to the underside 'Austria, JMA, 2555'. Approximate height 26", diameter of mouth 15".
