French, early 20th century. A set of four Empire style mahogany and bronze mounted chairs comprising a pair of fauteuils or armchairs and a pair of side chairs. Each with a rectangular scrolled backrail centered with gilt bronze berried laurel mounts, stiles mounted with gilt bronze anthemion. The fauteuils with downswept arms terminating in circular handholds with paterae rondelles on winged sphinx or harpie figural supports. Each chair with back and seat covered in silk with decorative nailhead trim over a berried laurel mounted skirt and raised on front winged lion monopodia legs. Approximate height of fauteuils 39.5", width 23.75" (arm to arm), seat depth 20", seat height 16.5". Approximate height of side chairs 37.75", width 20.75" (arm to arm), seat depth 18", seat height 18.5".
