Spanish, 19th century. Colonial inlaid Vargueno cabinet with stained rectangular wood top over frieze mounted with pierced gilt metal bacchanal figures amidst scrolling vinery issuing grapes and leaping deer backed with faded red velvet fabric over a ripple molding, the case with two sets of four vertically aligned veneered and paneled drawers enhanced with tortoise shell and painted bone with individual locking mechanisms and bordered by ripple moldings, all centering a door veneer decorated in painted bone and inlaid tortoise shell depicting architectural portico with recessed niche opening to reveal five small drawers inset with burl walnut veneer and bordered in ripple molding, raised on toupie style parcel gilt feet. Approximate height 28.25", width 39.5", depth 12". With pair of later keys; functional in the majority of locks.
