Japanese, likely Edo Period (1603-1868). "White Falcon", pigment on silk, applied seal mark lower right. Figural painting depicting a Gyrfalcon or Arctic Falcon perched atop a support of bell form wtih rectangular support at top, the bell form painted with birds flanking and biting a central ring dangling from stylized cloud scrolls, both of the birds ankles tethered with a braided blue cord tied at long length to a braided red cord knotted to a metal ring at back of perch with its length lying on the ground below terminating in tassel. Silk mounted at edges to a wood board, board approximately 44.75" x 36.5". Sight size of silk approximately 43" x 34.75".
