Japanese School, likely late Meiji Period (1868-1912). A large and finely modeled cast bronze figural sculpture depicting the three wise monkeys or three mystic apes, together embodying the proverbial principle of "Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, See No Evil", each of the three Japanese Macaques - Mizaru, Kikazaru, and Iwazaru - covering either its eyes, ears, or mouth as they sit in a semicircle on a naturalistic shaped plinth base. Impressed seal to side of plinth base. Approximate height 11.25", width 17.75", depth 7.5".
