Chinese, likely 20th century. A pair of impressive parcel gilt candle prickets with articulating elements, each unit comprising a six-side base raised on ruyi scroll feet with mask knees and scalloped aprons, with a pierced scroll arcade above issuing an everted hexagonal platform surmounted by figural phoenix standing with one leg resting on a kneeling dragon, the bird's wings and dragon's tail mounted on springs, each animal with gilt accents and glass eyes, with a single round candle cup with spike extending from phoenix's beak. Underside of each unit with impressed round seal mark. Approximate height 23" and 21.5", width of base 12", depth 8".
