Japanese, 19th/20th centuries. A collection of four kiseru tobacco pipes and one bronze portable yatate, group comprising one solid celadon jade pipe of straight cylindrical form with constricted neck and bulbous mouth piece; one mixed metal mounted sekishu kiseru bamboo pipe with figural scene to mouth piece depicting a hunting tiger; a white metal (possibly silver) mounted sekishu kiseru tobacco pipe with fluted details to mouth piece and end piece; a signed polished bronze mounted kiseru pipe; a heavy burnished bronze yatate, a portable or travel inkwell and brush stand, with "endpiece" hinging open to reveal a well for ink, the handle decorated with serpentine key motif; a hardwood pipe case with medallion to front bearing two lines of incised calligraphic marks; and an ebonized wood pipe case with applied silver cricket or insect amid leaves.
