Japanese, likely Meiji Period. A damascene decorated mixed metal tray of rounded rectangular form bearing woven bronze or unpatinated shakudo side walls and rim surrounding a rectangular inset depicting the goddess Gyoran Kannon (Chinese: Yulan Guanyin) standing atop a carp fish with halo emanating from her head as she casts light down upon a sea monster whereby saving a woman standing to right atop a lotus pad, the two female figures being separately cast and applied into the landscape setting within polished bronze border etched with lotus flower and scroll band. Underside signed in the cast. Approximately 15.25" x 19.25". Provenance: From the Estate of Channing S. Jun, M.D., Eastman, Georgia.
