Japanese, likely Meiji Period (1868-1912). A fine and unique bronze baluster form vase cast to one side of the shoulder with a pair phoenixes flanking a 5-7 Paulownia (or Go-shichi kiri), the official emblem or mon of the Prime Minister of Japan, the vase's opposing side with cast chrysanthemum blossoms on stem in relief, and the remaining two sides each with an oak leaf and acorn loop handle. Underside with cast calligraphic marks within wavy rectangular cartouche. Approximate height 7.75", diameter 5.75". Provenance: From the Estate of Channing S. Jun, M.D., Eastman, Georgia.
