RUSSIAN HAND PAINTED LACQUER BOXES, LATE 20TH C, 6 PCS. , H 1 1/4" - 2 1/2", W 1 3/4" - 3 1/2", D 2" - 7", DIA 2 1/2" & 3" (2):Russian hand painted folktale boxes, Three with hinged lids and 3 with detached lids. First hinged box is oval in shape and depicts two knights one in orange and red tones and one in blue and white tones also a maiden. Marked on the underside, 1 1/2" H. x 3 1/2" W. x 7" D. Second box is a rectangular bombe shape and depicts six mounted figures, a bearded man on a horse and five male and females on horned steeds including two children, 1 3/4" H. x 4 1/2" W. x 2 1/4" D. The third box is a small rectangular box with a long haired witch riding in a hovering basket and holding a straw broom, marked on the underside and inscribed: "Made In Russia" and "Nanex", 1 1/2" H. x 2 3/4" W. x 2" D. Fourth box is round with a detached lid with a red firebird on the crowned lid, paper label inscribed: "Made In Russia", 1 3/4" H. x 2 1/2" Dia. Fifth box is footed and hexagonal in shape and entitled: "Bell Ringer" by artist Domanin. Label inscribed "For The Lucy Maxym Collection" with a detached lid, 2" H. x 6" x 7". Sixth box is round, with cathedral scenes on the detached lid, and Red Square on the sides, 2 1/2" H. x 3" Dia. Boxes made from Paper-mache, with egg-tempera and gold paint, and lacquer.
