Stella by Mermod Freres (Swiss (Sainte-Croix City), founded 1816), circa 1900. A rosewood lidded music box with 25 discs, with hinged lid with molded panel, the underside of the lid with rich cherry surface framed by rosewood with yellow painted "Stella" trademark, the box interior with rotating Mermod Freres disc copyright 1896 playing "Dixie's Land", the exterior front of the box decorated with molded panel with molded carved scrolling vines and leaves, over a molded base with two patinated backplates with ring pulls. Accompanied with discs "The Strouers", "Ain't Dat a Shame", "In the 6000 Old Summer Time", "Wedding of the Winds", "Dawn of the Century", "My Little Chimpanzee", "Mr. Dooley", "Bill Bailey Won't you Please Come Home", "God Save the Queen", "My Sunshine Rosie", "Toy Land", 'Robin Hood", Tann Houser", 'Amoureuse Valse", "Creole Blues", "The Colored Major", "Since I First Met You", Mississippi Mami Song", 'American Eagle March", "Flora Dura", "The Messanger Boy", "Melody", "Ben Her Chariot Race March", "Star Spangled Banner". Approximate height 14", width 28", depth 21". Note: Mermod Freres began the manufacture of watches in 1810, and musical snuff boxes in 1816. The company discontinued the production of music boxes and began to solely produce watches, which they continue to manufacture today.
