MENNONITE 'WILD GOOSE CHASE/SAW TOOTH' QUILT, C. 1900, 72 1/2" X 78":Wild Goose Chase/Sawtooth, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Four bars of purple print wild geese on lavender print bars alternate with five turkey red (with white print) bars; rows of geese alternate flying north and south; inner sawtooth border of purple and lavender prints, wide outer red print border; hand pieced, homespun check back; 7-8 stitches/inch quilting: zig zags over design, six-strand cable on red bars, ten-strand cable on border; inspired by the migration of geese. An exquisite work of early quilt art in crisp condition. Excellent condition.
