Carl Thieme (German, founded 1872). A large and impressively modeled white glazed porcelain figural monkey sculpture depicting the animal seated atop a white naturalistic tree trunk adorned with colorful applied flowers and leaves, the monkey with both legs bent at the knee and turned to right with both arms bent at the elbow and resting on thighs with one hand holding an apple or prunus fruit, the animal with humanoid hands and feet, and enhanced with naturalistic textured fur to body and toning to face and limbs. Marked to underside with cobalt underglaze maker's mark used after 1901. Overall approximately 15.75" tall, 11.5" wide, 9.5" deep. Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
