Continental, 19th century. A giltwood wall console carved with classical motifs, surmounted by an oval shaped giltwood frame trimmed with carved ribbon scroll with central relief-carved roses at the crest, framing the glass surface displaying the oval shaped vividly painted porcelain plaque depicting three figures: a minstrel, troubadour, or balladeer singer playing an early form of guitar with two admiring female companions, each dressed in brightly colored 16th century costume, seated under a tree within an idyllic outdoor landscape, framed by a gilt metal beaded and rocaille decorated frame against garnet colored embroidered interior upholstery, raised on two cyma curved paneled laurel leaf carved supports terminating in carved Greek keys, under the carved classical ribbon, joined by a gadrooned crossrail over molding hinged to lower section, lower section comprising a glass display case with glass astragal form lid with molded giltwood frame opening to the case interior lined in conforming garnet embroidered upholstery, with conforming beaded side and front paneled windows and central carved patera/sunflower, raised on a cabriole form support with carved imbrication joined by relief carved floral garlands, the leg terminating in acanthus carved scroll over a foliate plinth over a hoof foot.
