ITALIAN SCHOOL, OIL ON CANVAS, 19TH C. , 37" X 47", CHRIST CARRYING HIS CROSS:Image depicts the Virgin Mary swooning at the base of the cross as it is being carried by Christ. Mary Magdalene and Mary Salome are on either side of the Virgin Mary, John the Evangelist leans over the cross towards Christ while Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea stand in the background.
