HENRY WARD RANGER (AMER. 1858 - 1916), OIL ON WOOD PANEL, SEASCAPE, 18" X 25 1/2":Artist mark lower right. Ranger was a key person in the establishment of the Old Lyme, Connecticut art colony in 1899. He is regarded as the leader of the Tonalist movement in America and was a leading painter in America during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Purchased Sotheby's 6/19/81.
