Attributed to R. J. Horner & Co (American, 1886 – 1934), late 19th century. A Renaissance Revival carved oak sideboard with curio top, the superstructure with breakfront fluted cornice centered with grotesque or North Wind mask with fierce expression, open mouth, and sharp fangs, over a pair of two beveled glass front doors within spiral twist moldings over drop finials, flanked by free-standing spiral twist pilasters to each end and back panels relief carved with scrolling floral filled urn on stipple ground, supported by a pair of winged griffins centering a rectangular beveled looking glass, the case with molded top over three fluted frieze drawers and conforming lower central drawer, all above four paneled cupboard doors, the two central smaller doors relief carved with griffin mask on stipple ground flanked by larger doors relief carved with leafy scrolling foliage with griffin profile mask on stippled ground, all doors with individual locking mechanisms and separated by spiral twist and fluted pilasters, the whole raised on a molded plinth with four bun feet on casters.
