SHAVER, C. 1865, L 11 1/2", ENCASED:Having a shell-form bowl and spiraled handle to engraved tip, three-letter monogram at one side, dated "Feb. 28th 1865" at the other; stamped maker's mark of crown, S and eagle enclosed in a rectangle (see photo); fitted within the original tooled leather case opening to purple silk and velvet lining. Weighing approximately 3.84 troy oz. Provenance, the Haynes Family of Springfield, Massachusetts, by descent to a Jackson, Mich. collector.
