ANTHONY THIEME (AMERICAN 1888-1954), OIL ON CANVAS, 25" X 30", 'SONEARNEAU':Signed lower left and lower right; titled "Sonearneau" on canvas verso. Having a "John Hanna Galleries" label verso frame. Depicting sailboats docked in a Massachusetts harbor, with two figures. Gilt wood frame. By 1927, Thieme had established a studio at Cape Ann in Rockport, Massachusetts, where he taught summer painting classes and became well-known for his seascapes and shore scenes. He worked in an Impressionist manner, and was also profoundly influenced by the Dutch seascape tradition. He has exhibited in New York, Washington, Paris, and London, and was acquired by many museums.
