KUNISADA, A. K.A. TOYOKUNI III, (JAPANESE) WOODBLOCK PRINTS, FOUR, C. 1835, APP. 29 3/4" X 14", SCENE:Including one image with a date/censor seal possibly from 1843-1846, with Moritaya Hanzo publisher's mark. This image is signed "Kunisada aratame nidai Toyokuni ga" (c. 1844) consisting of three Geisha women and two children, by a body of water. Also including three images having a signature of "Kochoro Kunisada ga" (c. 1835) but with differing publisher's marks and date and censor seals; each sheet appears to be made of three panels. One image consisting of an interior scene with seven Geishas and one man; includes Moritaya Hanzo publishers mark along with date/censor seal of 1790-1842. One image consisting of three Geishas by the water, the one in the center holding on to a child by his garment; the central panel contains the date/censor seal of 1790-1842 and a publisher's mark of an encircled pelican above four Japanese characters. One image consisting of an interior scene with three Geishas, one playing a stringed instrument with the other two dancing; includes publisher's mark of Tsutiya Kichizo, and date/censor seal (most likely from 1790-1842).
