GEORGIAN STERLING SILVER BASKET BY CHARLES ALDRIDGE & HENRY GREEN, LONDON, 1772, H 3 3/4", L 13":George III cake basket of oval shape with a beaded rim above reticulated sides adorned with an acanthus leaf and drape motif, beaded inner rim, and pierced bellflower pattern along the handle, height to top of handle 11", raised on a reticulated base also with a beaded rim. Hallmarks at front of basket include a crowned leopard, lion passant, Gothic date letter, and maker's mark; the handle is marked with a lion passant and maker's mark. Weighing approximately 24.59 troy oz.
