German, early 20th century. A walnut cased brass recording stormograph or barograph, the mechanism with eight segment chamber within brass armature operated by a system of pivoting levers, with an inked pen at left recording the change in barometric pressure on a rotating paper lined drum. Fahrenheit mercury thermometer at center beside drum. Barograph is mounted on a four footed pedestal form base with drawer on front that holds two stacks of replacement scale drum sheets, and is enclosed by a removable five beveled pane rectangular form box lid. Marked "Germany" on an ivory tone plaque within structure. Accompanied by replacement scale sheets in English and French, an "Airguide Conversion Chart" for units of barometric pressure, and original sales receipt from Abercrombie & Fitch Co. on Madison Avenue, New York City, NY. Approximately 9" tall x 14.25" wide x 8.25" deep.
