American, 1936. A hand colored portrait sketch depicting Dopey in bust length. Inscribed next to Dopey "At the mine, Dopey places diamonds over his eyes like spectacles". Stamps surrounding the sketch indicate that this was done during a session at the Character Model Department, which was developed by Disney Studios to construct small sculptures of characters which allowed animators to study and draw them in the round. Stamp lower left reads "Character Model Dept o.k. by *initials* date 9/30/36 number SW-103", lower right stamped "sheets subject to recall". Stamp upper right read "This material is the property of Walt Disney Productions. It must not be taken from the studio or used in any manner without permission of an authorized officer of the company". Framed 15.15" x 17.25", unframed sight size 9.75" x 11.75".
