ATTRIBUTED TO WILLIAM J. MULLER (BRITISH, 1812-1845), OIL ON CANVAS, 20" X 30", CROSSING THE FORD:Depicting a family of three atop a wagon pulled by a horse across a stream, a dog alongside. No apparent signature, framed. Provenance, purchased from The Cider House Galleries, Ltd., Surrey, England in May 1992, who allege it to be formerly of the collection of Monty Bernard, who purchased the painting in the 1960s, and later sold to a New York dealer, Mr. Haizen, who in turn sold it to a private English collector; in the 1980s, sold at Phillips Auction in London to a private collector, then to Mr. P. J. Henry; acquired by present owner. (rev.20080814)
