Bruno Merli (Italian, 20th century). "The Cheaters", porcelain, signed to plinth front "Merle". Sculpture depicts a group of four young boys in tattered clothes around a table playing cards, the table being of wooden planks set upon a cut tree trunk in a garden, one boy to right peering over playmate's shoulder and discovering one boy passing a card below the table between his toes to a boy across from him as the fourth boy is caught unaware that he is being cheated. Sculpture to an ovular stained wood plinth. Marked to back of base "WORKS OF ART ITALY -228". Overall approximately 11.25" x 21" x 12".
