Philadelphia Chippendale mahogany dining chair, ca. 1780 , attributed to the workshop of Thomas Tuft, the serpentine crest with voluted ears, above a gothic splat flanked by fluted stiles, above a trapezoidal slip seat supported by acanthus carved legs terminating in ball and claw feet.Tuft retired to Earl Township, Lancaster County in 1788. Provenance: Descended in the Lightner/Strickler families of Lancaster, Pennsylvania
