AMERICAN INDIAN PAINTED HIDE "GHOST" FROCK & SKIRT, CHEROKEE, C. 1860-1870:Including 1 frock with cut hole at the top (no sleeves), painted yellow circles, stars and crosses on a blue ground, fringe at either end, measuring 36" x 24" without fringe (numerous holes, some of which have been mended, hide is dried, lacking some fringe); and 1 coordinating piece, possibly a skirt, painted red circles and stars, blue crosses, hide fringe along sides and along the bottom, measuring 30 1/2" x 17 1/2" without fringe (very dry, damage, fringe loss, etc.).
