AFTER ADOLF SCHREYER, OIL ON CANVAS, 23 1/4" X 33", ARAB CAVALRY BATTLE SCENE:Reads, "Ad. Schreyer" in the lower right; gilt frame is later in date (Marshall Field & Co. sticker in envelope attached to the painting); possibly a copy done by Archie Palmer Wigle. Provenance: Ex. Estate of Captain Thomas H. Hoatson, Jr., founder of the Calumet and Arizona Mining Co. outside of Phoenix, AZ, and family owned ever since; removed from Laurium Manor, Laurium, MI (Upper Peninsula) the 13,000 sq. foot mansion which Mr. Hoatson built in 1908 as a winter home and a gift for his wife Cornelia and which is now a bed and breakfast; the painting was purchased by Mr. Hoatson at the time that the manor was completed to furnish it.
