French, 20th century. A bombe form fruitwood parquetry commode in the Louis XV style (1723-1764), the pink veined marble top with scalloped facade and astragal form front corners surmounting the bombe form case decorated with parquetry veneers at front and sides and applied ormolu mounts, the serpentine facade comprising a total five drawers with two small top drawers flanking a small central drawer with lockable keyhole, over two long drawers with keyholes within applied ormolu cartouches decorated with laurel wreath crowns and floral garlands, (the lower two drawers having purely decorative keyholes, only the uppermost central drawer has functioning keyhole), the applied ormolu pulls decorated with shell, scroll, and Rococo foliate motifs, the edges of the bombe sides decorated with applied ormolu mounts with foliate scroll motifs and cartouches, masks of noblemen at knees terminating in foliate mounts and applied scroll feet, the shaped apron decorated with bookmatched fruitwood veneer with central Rococo shell and foliate ormolu mount.
