After Sir Godfrey Kneller (English, 1646-1723). "Portrait of King William III", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. An 18th century copy after the 17th century portrait by the English master currently housed in the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London. A finely rendered portrait painting depicting the young King William III (Dutch/ English, 1650-1802) at bust length wearing the chain of the Order of the Garter over a heavily gilt brocade cape with ermine trim and secondary over cape of black spotted white ermine with lace ruffle to front of collar, the king's head turned slightly to left with his long and flowing dark curled hair lying forward down right shoulder, the figure set within an ovular painted cartouche. Framed approximately 37.5" x 32.75". Unframed approximately 30" x 25.125".
